Alkaline Recipes are a such a great way to jumpstart your health in the right direction. Because they contain an abundance of vegetables, they can help you to transition into a healthier lifestyle easily.
Before we get into some delicious ingredients that fall within this category, and are suitable to consume during the alkaline diet. Lets first discuss about what Alkaline is.
ALKALINE RECIPES vs. ACIDIC
So to much acidity in the body can be caused by the over-indulgence of processed foods. Refined sugar and lifestyle habits also contribute to a overwhelming amount of acidity in the body. The over consumption of acidic foods over time is known to be the gateway to a number of health related diseases. A study done in 2012 goes into even more detail about the Alkaline diet. Specific foods carry a substantial acidic load. And the study also contains detailed information on what the normal pH levels are for specific body parts.
On the pH scale, a blood pH normally ranges between 7.3 and 7.5. And because our blood is considered to be slightly alkaline, it is imperative to keep it in a healthy state. Keeping our bodies in a neutral state, helps us to maintain balance over time.
ACIDIC, ALKALINE, NEUTRAL
So certain food groups are considered acidic, alkaline, or neutral:
- Acidic foods Category: Meat, poultry, fish, dairy eggs, grains, and alcohol
- Neutral food Category: natural fats, starches, and sugars
- Alkaline: Fruits, nuts, legumes, and vegetables.
So the goal is to consume plenty of plant based foods. However, I see many individuals struggle with the Alkaline diet because they are not to certain how to combine there foods together to help create meals that they enjoy.
